Surgeon who branded livers of patients fined £10,000

A surgeon who branded his initials on the livers of two unconscious transplant patients has been fined and given community service. Simon Bramhall used specialist equipment to burn on the marks after life-saving operations at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2013. The court heard that one of his victims had been left psychologically scarred, although more than 20 former patients and colleagues were also in court to support him.
